Introduction:
As the warmth of the sun embraces the Earth, inviting us to shed layers and bask in its radiance, summer beckons us to align our bodies and minds with the vibrant energy of the season. Drawing from the wisdom of yoga, Ayurveda, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we embark on a journey to prepare ourselves holistically for the summer ahead. Through mindful movement, breathwork, and conscious living, we embrace the essence of summer, cultivating harmony within ourselves and with the world around us.
Embracing the Elements
In yoga philosophy, the elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space—are fundamental building blocks of existence. As summer unfolds, the fire element predominates, igniting our passions and vitality. Through dynamic yoga sequences that stoke our inner fire, we harness the transformative energy of summer. Sun salutations, backbends, and core-strengthening poses awaken our inner radiance, fuelling our spirits and invigorating our bodies.
Ayurvedic Insights
Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, offers profound insights into aligning with the rhythms of nature. In summer, the Pitta dosha, governed by fire and water, tends to accumulate, leading to imbalances such as heat, irritability, and inflammation. By incorporating cooling practices into our yoga routine—such as moon salutations, forward folds, and pranayama techniques like Sheetali and Sheetkari—we pacify excess heat and restore equilibrium to mind and body.
Harmonizing with TCM
Traditional Chinese Medicine views summer as a time of abundant yang energy, represented by the element of fire. To harmonize with this energy, we focus on nurturing the heart and small intestine meridians, which correspond to the fire element. Heart-opening poses, such as camel pose and fish pose, promote emotional well-being and connection, while twists and stretches target the small intestine meridian, aiding digestion, and clarity of thought.
Adapting Your Practice
As the external environment shifts, so too must our yoga practice. Embrace the longer days and warmer temperatures by taking your practice outdoors, connecting with nature as you move through asanas. Stay hydrated and replenish electrolytes with coconut water or herbal
teas infused with cooling herbs like mint and fennel. Listen to your body's cues, modifying poses as needed to honour its evolving needs and capacities.
Yoga Class Format
Each 60-minute session is a carefully crafted experience, featuring yoga, breathwork, meditation, and exploration of Eastern meridians and has been surated with Spring in mind.
The unique aspect of this course is that each session is distinct, building upon the previous one. It’s a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and holistic wellness.

Duration: 6 weeks. Start Date: Tuesday, 4th June
Time: 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM (60-minute sessions)
