About the event

We will be exploring Yin with its qualities of darkness, depth, nurturing, the divine feminine. The quiet whisper of the earth. The deep waters of flow. The depth and the stillness.

In a world that glorifies the fast paced action orientated Yang energy, Yin offers a sanctuary, a space of introspection, interception, rejeuvantion, replenishment, healing, insight and restoration.

During the day we will be making suggestions on how to integrate simple, effective Yin principles into our everyday in order to strike a better balance in our emotional health and wellbeing. Think of it as YinLife Hacks to soothe your nervous system and help your re-connect to your soul.

There will be distinct morning and an afternoon yin yoga practice one from Kirsten and one from me. These will explore 2 different approaches to a Yin based practice. One with a greater focus on a more traditional yin yoga with long holds, stillness, meditation and yielding, the other more explorative, somatic based, dance life, balancing earth and water elements. The will be centred around a YinLife circle of trust and conversation, We will explore some breathwork and journalling and share and savour a nourishing Yin based feast together.

Yin foods are more cooling in nature, helping balance excess fire and heat. This can help soothe inflammation, internal heat, reduce anger and agitation and promote a sense of calmness and greater peace.

Examples of yin foods include; cucumber, leafy greens, watermelon, berries. Yin foods tend to have a higher water content to help hydrate the body and the tissues. Yin foods are often moistening, viscose in nature such as avocados, mushrooms, seaweed, tofu, aloe vera. Typically yin foods are mild. This is going to be hard for me as those of you who have been to our Studio Orchard retreat days before know first hand how much I love using chilli! Cooking methods for yin foods are gentle lots of steaming and light sautéing. Think tofu, rice, oats, courgettes, cabbage. (Sue don’t be put off by this talk of veggies!!!). There will be plant based protein and some fish such salmon and mackerel.

Places are filling up but there are still some early bird tickets still available before 15th May. Tickets are £135 per person before 15th May (£150 pp thereafter) the day includes lunch in the Hedge Garden (weather permitting) and a closing tea. If you would like to join us, please email Kirsten. on kirsten@studioorchard.com.

It promises to be the start of something very special and quietly transformational I think, I do hope you can join us.
